I got a tooth exposed and there is this gold thing on my braces is part of the gold thing supposed to hang?

I had braces before i got a tooth exposure

I'm pretty sure yes. I was supposed to get the same operation I believe...it was a canine, and they were going to peel back the gum, expose the tooth, and attach a gold chain. From the pictures it appeared to hang down a little. One end on the tooth, one on the braces.
