I got a turtle and i can't tell if its dead and i don't want to pick it up and poke on it what should i do?

my babysitter sent me a turtle a half a year ago and now i can't tell if it's alive because i poke it with a stick and still, it doesn't move. i temp it with it's favorite food and it also doesn't move

Is it dead?

if you want to be sure if its dead don't poke it with a stick

hit it with a sledge hammer

Toss it in the garbage. If it still doesn't move, leave it there.

Pick up the thing he is not going to bite ya. I had a turtle when i was little. They are the cutest little things. They have little tiny tounges. Good luck
