I got a vw passat 54 plate 1.9 tdi highline ?

Question

do i need to remove the whole door panel (rear drivers side) to change electric window switch or does the little panel that surrounds the switch and open door lever pop out ---- thanks.

I had to change the window switch on a 98 Passat, I assume not much has changed. You can gently lever out the switch without removing door panel but take care not to damage switch or surround. You do need a fair bit of leverage but it will come out. Then just disconnect old switch, reconnect new one and push back in.
