Question:

I got a yellow ticket from a CHP and it says I have to appear in court?

I signed the ticket and he gave me a yellow receipt of it and there is a red box around where I signed saying "Without admitting guilt, I promise to appear at the time and place indicated below." The officer also wrote in the time and place. I got the ticket for breaking a provision of my license by driving people under 20. If I just want to pay the fine do I still have to appear in court? And are they going to pull my license for this or is it just a fine I will have to pay?

  1. I doubt the provisions of an agreement to appear can be enforced upon a juvenile.  I mean we treat you like a child when it comes to driving, but then suddenly you become an adult for the purposes of a contractual obligation.  I guess the government can always have it both ways.

    Nevertheless, you will likely receive a second notice in the mail and be expected to bring a parent to court with you.  Forfeiting bail is treated the same as admitting guilt, but it is unlikely that any bail will be indicated in the courtesy notice which would also remind you to come to court with a parent.

    Your punishment would likely be a weekend of community service.  But you can refuse it or say that it interferes with your job so the judge can give you just a fine for you to pay.  This will go on your record for the purpose of future violations but with no points against your license so it will not affect whoever is paying for your insurance.

    */End of Line.

  2. You need to go to court.  You didn't get a regular traffic violation.  For those you have the option to contest it in court, by calling a number on the back, from which you get a date.

    When the cop gives you a date to appear onsite, and tells you to show up, you are being charged with a low-level crime.  Other times you see this happen is with the possession of a illegal narcotic for personal use, or driving on a suspended license.

    If you don't attend, be prepared to get a bench warrant issued on your head.

  3. You had better show up.

  4. Call the court and ask them; they'll be able to tell you precisely what you're required to do.

  5. I sugest you to pay right away, and there will be no problems,

    Citations goes stray to court when you plan to discuse  the ticket, and plan to pay on easy payments.But remember! if you allready have a record, the history change
