  1. The dentist should have given you some gauze to bite on if you bleed. If they have bite, on it for 10mins or so and it should stop shortly. If they haven't, try biting on some cotton wool.

You can rinse your mouth 24hours after extraction, rinsing with warm salt water will help the healing process.

  2. When in doubt, call the dentist.

I had all 4 of mine done and I bleed for about 1 1/2 days pretty heavily, then it seeped for about another day.  I was allowed a liquid diet after the numbness went away (of course I'm also diabetic so there may have been slack given in that timing).  As long as you DO NOT drink from a straw, you should be okay.  Sucking on a straw can cause dry socket, which I've heard is horrible.

    Good Luck!!

  3. Do not worry its normal for it to bleed for awhile. Keep putting cotton balls on it and do not open your mouth too often and this can rip your gum causing it to bleed more.

    Good Luck

  4. The bleeding should stop very soon.  You can rinse immediately.  YOu can also eat and drink too assuming you can tolerate the pain.  Just rinse afterwards.

  5. you can rinse after 24 hours, mine were still bleeding a few days after i had them taken out

  6. I just got mine out yesterday too. I feel ya mine are still bleeding too and I have rinsed and eaten. just keep in your gauze and change it as frequently as you can or as it fills up. good luck and thank god for jello!

  7. call your dentist, you shouldn't be bleeding still.

  8. I just got mine out too...my surgeonn had me usegauzee pads to stop the bleeding i wore them for a couple days....you can drink now and eat soft stuff like pudding  and mashed potatoes....its not fun and you cant do anything but youll heal up quick if you take care of your stiches

  9. Bleeding should stop soon, but is normal for that much work.

You can and should rinse with salt water. No mouthwashes or alcohol, they'll burn the open would.

You don't have to fast... you can eat soft foods, and try to keep the eood away from the extraction areas. Liquids are surely ok.

If you still have problems after today, call the deintist.

  10. You can rinse with warm salt water now, this will soothe the extraction sites and help alleviate the muscle soreness.   Rinsing with the warm salt water will also help to rinse the residual dried blood left in your mouth  also the blood left on roof of your mouth and tongue, it looks like so much more when mixed with your saliva, which is probably what you are seeing.  The rinsing will also help to reduce the bacteria count and promote faster healing.

Your dentist or OS probably gave you an instruction sheet to follow; take a look at it to see if there were any limitations given due to the difficulty of your specific procedure.  In most all cases, especially when sutures are placed, there is little reason to worry about dry socket and healing is much faster.  We always advise patients to start the warm salt water rinses after the first 24 hours; this will also help to remove any food particles that may become lodged in the soft tissue folds or around the sutures, so be sure to do this several times a day and especially after you eat.

You can start a soft diet today; scrambled, poached or fried eggs, soft toast, pasta, oatmeal, smoothies, ice cream, mac and cheese, yogurt, soups and stews.  Also drink plenty of tea, water, milk and juices.  The more you replenish your body with healthy foods and fluids the faster you will heal, and yes, I say that goes for ice cream too!

  11. Are you using gauze? I am pretty sure you can drink ensure I did
