  1. It's only value is as a potential collector's item. I say potential because there is little demand for bills and coins of that period. They are no longer legal tender. At the time it was issued the exchange rate was about 2,800 pesos / 1 dollar. On Jan. 1 , 1993 the govt. removed three zeros from the money and issued the "new peso." The "old" pesos were quickly phased out and if they were not cashed in within a specified time limit became worthless as legal tender.

The bill you have, if it were still legal tender, would now be worth two of the current pesos and at the current exchange rate the value would not be 183 dollars rather it would be .183 dollars or 18 cents and 3 tenths of a cent.

But hold on to the bill. If it is in good condition it might be worth something some day. Worst case scenario: it's a curiosity.

  2. Sorry, all Mexican currency was devalued and new currency introduced in 1994.  That bill is worthless.  I live in Mexico..have friends who have stacks of those old 2000 peso notes...they are absolutely worthless.

  3. I have 1,000,000 lire of Italy note is like news paper.

  4. Sorry brother, You are out of luck! here you go!

If you happen have coins that are from 1970 to 1992, they are out of circulation, and have no value. In 1993, Mexico issued "Nuevo" pesos (new pesos) in order to stem inflation, and the last two zeros were removed from the value - in other words, an "old" peso coin with a face value of $1000 was worth what a $10 nuevo peso coin is worth today. Currency from this time period is very common, and is no longer accepted for exchange. The only value of Mexican currency from 1970-1992, should you happen to have some, is as a souvenir or novelty.  However;  Check on Ebay,  some times various bills are worth more than they actually were when they were good.

PS:  Look under Paper currency World/ peso/mexican on ebay.  The note does have some value depending on condition.
