You get chosen by teachers. Teachers send in recommendation forms, at least two teachers had to nominate you in order to get a letter. So, yes; You do have to get good grades to make it in. They do not choose just anyone.

Congratulations! If I were you, I would highly consider going. I'm about to take my trip to Washington D.C. and am really excited!
