If my parents only provide me the first semester or first year's school fees, is it possible for me to work legally 20 hours a week and manage to save the money that i need for the rest of the semesters, including the living expenses and school fees??

  1. Nope. 20 hrs per week is not enough for such expenses - (assuming you are paid $15 per hr - that will only give you $300 per week).

Other ways to make money include teaching home tuition on top of the 20 hrs per week. A lot of international students (with good command of english - typically postgraduate student) does that and they are paid abt $30 per hour. If you can teach 6 hrs per week, that will give you additional $180 per week.

    Total: $480/week

    Monthly: $1,920

    12 month: abt $23,000.

This together with your full time work during semester break (assuming you can find work) will still not be enough for everything but it will save you quite a bit on bank loan.

    Hope my inputs are helpful.
