I got braces yesterday...?

Question

how long will it take to get used to them?

and any advice?

Hi, I have been unfortunate enough to have braces twice in my life, and both experiences have been the same. The initial pain and sensitivity should go away within 3-7 days, but you should always watch out for the occasional sores and blisters caused by your braces rubbing on the inside of your cheek. One way to prevent this is to use wax on any area that seems to be rubbing too much. If you are unable to prevent this, then i would suggest rinsing with salt water morning and evening for 3 days, or evening only for 1 week. Good luck and God Bless.

Oh god, they hurt like heck for me for about a week :[ But after the first two weeks, braces are okay.

well for me i got over them in about 1 week, maybe 2 weeks...cant remember very well. But my back teeth hurt like crazy. So lay off the crunchy food, stick to the soft foods for a while. Avoid cold drinks because they make your teeth hurt even more. Good Luck with them !! trust me ... u will b happy with the results.

it took me about a week to actually eat normal again and have my mouth adjusted to them. The actual "soreness" you may be feeling should be gone within about 3-4 days. Try tylenol for this. Try eating soft foods ( pudding, smoothies, mashed potatoes) until you are fully adjusted to them. Remember to brush after every meal or snack and be careful with some of the things you eat.

When I got braces it took me about 3 days to get over the initial pain. Your teeth adjust and become used to them...but I know they hurt. Take some advil or motron to help with the pain, and be sure not to bite down really hard on your teeth!

The pain my hurt for a few days, but the results later on are worth it!

well my friend got braces last week and it didn't hurt very much (up to 48 hours). My advice is to eat soft foods and drink a lot of water and take tylenol for the pain.

P.S. If you take any other meds  for pain killing it will slow down the process of your moving teeth.
