They are just starting to lay. I get up at 7 and get about four every day. I go back out again to feed them around 5 at night and i find 2 more. 1 outside the pen and 1 under the canoe. We have 13 hens and only get 4-6 eggs a day. We had 2 broiler chickens. 1 laid a huge white egg then died(WE DIDN'T KILL IT!) The other one has only laid three and they are small brown eggs!! They are the same type of chicken too! We were getting them every other day now we don't get any from her! Can u help? Please! in case your wondering the 13 are hens for sure and we do have 10 roosters but we were thinking of getting rid of them!! Thanks for your help!

  1. the one may lay different eggs because of her mate.

  2. if they just started to laysomtimes its kinda wierd.when my chickens first started laying they layed at all different times.now they lay about 7:00 every morning and its been about a year.it takes a while but they will get straitened out dont worry.

  3. one rooster can "service" 10 hens, so you may have too many roosters; but about the eggs, in theory they lay one egg every 25 hours in perfect conditions  (ie weather, temperature, etc) , and also it depends on breed of chickens- some of the fancy show breeds don't lay well.  My advice- go to Backyard Chickens .com and you'll find the answers to almost any chicken problem.
