I took down all his info (name, DL #, insurance). After that we went our separate ways. I don't want to get into the details of the accident because I don't want to make this too long, but both of us could not tell who's fault it was. I usually tell my parents and let them handle it, but I'm not sure I want to tell them. Hopefully, I get this taken care of myself even though I'm a newbie(don't get into many car accidents). I will tell them if I have to. What should I do?

  1. The insurance agents will figure it all out. I hope you got a police report to clarify the incident and make an official record. How the accident happened is important: there's no such thing as becoming invisible- there was some chance things could have been avoided. You pay the professionals to mete that out. If you know how to drive and understand basic traffic laws, whose fault it is shouldn't be mysterious at all. The bottom line by insurance claims is whoever is at least 51% the cause of the accident, the whole thing is on them.

Have a talk with the insurance company. Call your agent. No one can tell anything by your leaving out details. So, if you want to know what to do, you have to be honest and clear about what happened and if you are to blame you need to take care of business. That's what driving is all about.

  2. Simple.  Go see your insurance agent and take his advice.  That will keep you both from getting sued.  he will tell you want needs to be reported and to whom, and get started on getting it fixed.
