I got let go from working on a cruise ship and I have applied for another position but it is a different?

entity. Should I give disclosure that I did work for the company? or should I go with my chances and say no and hope they dont find out?

  1. If you were let go for cause,then they will definitely find out.  What company did you work for?  I still have some contacts within several of the major lines that I may be able to hook you up with.


  2. Depends on why you were let go. If you were fired for some reason, that's one thing. If you were let go at the end of the cruise season because they were laying off staff, that's something quite different.

    If you were fired, think carefully about the reason -- is it something that would have a bearing on your new job? For example, if you were applying to be an accountant, it wouldn't be as important to have good people skills as it you were working as a server in the restaurant.

    You will have to evaluate all the pros and cons of disclosure. But one thing to remember is that in these security-heightened days, checks are no longer cursory matters. And if they discover that you have 'neglected' to tell them about your previous work, you may be terminated on the spot.
