I got my 4 years degree in Accounting from Truman Stat. Univ. Mo. However, 'till now I could not find a job...

I worked with agents, (kforce and some other agents) on temp basis.. and right now, Im working in a Restuarant as assistan manager..

Im using Craigslist, monster and also Im going to job fairs..But I culd not find a permanent accounting job..

Please let me what other methods I should use to find a permanent accounting job in DC, VA and Maryland...

  1. try some of the smaller CPA firms.  Until you get your cps, you are at a little bit of a disadvantage.  get off Craig's list and hit HotJobs, Monster, etc.

    Also talk to the placement center at Truman.


  2. without currently working in the field - it will be tough - In the current bad job market - getting experience as a temp is probably the best way - if you can work the restaurant job evening to pay bills when you aren't temping

  3. Send your resume to every firm/accountant listed in the phone book or yellowpages.com in your area.  You might have to start with a small firm but it will be good experience.  I graduated with a 4 year degree in accounting and needed part time work which is pretty hard to find.  I sent my resume to everyone in the phone book and got a great job in a small firm.  Just keep trying!
