We got the cage, water bottle, house, bedding and food (dry food)….

I’ve seen online that they need vitamin C, and love lots of Green veggies.

How much am I suppose to give them and how? (They are babies and don’t know what sex…. Didn’t look yet, lol)

Lets say lettuce, parsley or carrots, do I need to chop them or leave it the original size?

I also got them the wheel, but I’m thinking of taking it out, I’ve read everywhere that they don’t use it and can hurt their paws…. Any other toysand/or some game ideas?

Thanks!

  1. If it gets hot you could freeze a water bottle and give it to them. They love the coolness of it.

Also my guinea pigs loved collard greens. I cut them up into strips so they were easier to distribute. Also carrots and apples are great. Dont give them too much because the excess water can cause problems. Also try not to give them iceberg lettuce. It contains way too much water.

Guinea pigs love to hide so I would try something like a tube or an old tissue box or container with holes on the side.

  2. Every day, give the guinea pigs something amounting to about a carrot, and every time you have an apple give them the core to eat. Mine all preferred the core rather than the actual flesh, and it's a good way to not waste food. Cucumber is also great. I sometimes give them brown bread soaked in milk, just as a treat. Do not give them citrus fruit or onions.

Guinea pigs don't normally like wheels, but you could let them out to run around on the floor, in a room with the door firmly shut. Watch them at all times. They often like a log roll or a very large cardboard tube to hide in.

    Good luck with them!

  3. it doesn't matter if you cut the veggies up or not, guinea pigs are animals, they will just chew the veggies down into smaller pieces that fits their mouth. i used to have 2 guinea pigs too, i only gave them 1 carrot a day, or the equivalent amount of another vegetable. mine loved eating hay the most. but don't overfeed! just top up their bowls once a day.

and i honestly doubt they will use a wheel since they grow sooo large and are much slower than say a hamster.
