I got my SAR and EFC number, now what?

Also my EFC was 3356, what does this number mean?

  1. That number means how much you are expected to contribute towards your education. Not just tuition, but books, supplies and living expenses. You are elegible for a Pell grant...how much I am not exactly sure, because it depends on your living situation. Are you living in your parents home or not? If you are not living with your parents your grant will be bigger. It also depends on household size, the more people in the household the bigger your grant will be too.

    Ok, now you call your financial aid office to see if they need any additional information from you, register for Fall if you havent done that yet, and then sit back and wait for them to send you informtion. Information like yes you are awarded x*x amount or sorry, but you were not elegible. They will either mail you something or email you something depending on your schools financial aid department.

    They will get all your information, you do not need to bring it to them.


  2. This is a code used by your school to determine what kinds and how much financial aid you will get.  It is NOT how much you will have to pay for your school.  With an EFC this low, you will be eligible for a small Pell grant in the fall and again in the spring.  Here is a good book to read about federal fin aid.
