I got my betta about 2 weeks ago question about his fins?

they look like parts of them had been torn or bitten off will they grow back? or will they always look like that?

Sounds like Finrot. If it's allowed to escalate, it can really hurt the fish. PRISTINE water should help. I would also purchase MELAFIX. You can get it at any petstore or even wal mart. My beta had finrot, and that cleaned him up nicely! =)

His fins will grow back. This may also be a case of fin rot. You can get medication that you can put in your Betta's bowl to cure or prevent fin rot. Usually the medicine will cost less than $10 at a pet store, and it is usually non-fatal if it is treated. If you think that his fins are bothering him because of how they are torn, you can trim them. You can use scissors, but be very care full. I would suggest just letting the fins heal on there own.
