but i got my financial aid award letter a month ago. and on my bill it says the due date for tuition is July 28. My question is since I am receiving financial support, will they go ahead and pay my bill to where i dont have to worry about the due date.

or are they going to purge my classes if its not paid in time?

  1. Call the office that sent you the bill (Busar, Business Office, Treasurer's Office)  They should be able to tell you if they can see your pending financial aid AND if it is enough to cover your bill.  Most schools will NOT purge your classes as long as you have enough pending financial aid to cover your bill, since your school cannot actually disburse your financial aid until after drop/add is over.

Just call the school so you will know their policy.

  2. You need to contact your financial aid office.  Sometimes schools will just wait and not unenroll you from classes.  However, other schools require you to fill out a special paper saying you are receiving financial aid that will pay for your schooling.  Just call your financial aid office and they'll know what to do.

  3. If you have been awarded financial aid (and accepted as necessary), you will not be responsible for paying your student account until your financial aid funds have been disbursed. This will happen a few weeks into each semester, once the add/drop period has ended.

You do not need to worry about being disenrolled, as long as your student record accurately indicates that you have a pending aid award.

In fact, if your aid award is intended to cover books (it probably is), you can probably receive a bookstore voucher or credit from the financial aid office as an advance against your eventual payments. Contact them for more information.

    I hope that helps!

  4. NotAnyoneYouKnow is dead on in his answer, but I will add that it does not hurt to contact your financial aid office and make sure that everything is set with your awards.  In most cases if you have aid that is ready to go, it will show up on the tuition bill as pending to show that you are due financial aid.  Sometimes, not always, if it does not show up on the tuition bill there may be an issue you need to follow up on.

Where loans are concerned you should probably double check with the lenders that the loan is completely approved and that all applications have been properly signed.  This will reduce any surprises when you expect the bill to pay, or a potential refund to be issued.
