I got my cartilage done on my right ear 3 months ago in Blue Banana. I have had no problems at all with it, it hasn't been swollen or infected and the only time it bled was when i had the piercing done for about half an hour afterward. I've cleaned it twice a day with rock salt and boiling water up til about 2 weeks ago, it's fine and it looks great but i want to change it to a hoop. I was wondering how long I should wait before I switch it? Is 3 months okay or is it too early? If you could help that would be great.

  1. Officially, you shouldn't change the earring for at least six months after you've had it pierced, especially the cartilage. Even if it seems healed now, changing it too early could give you some problems.

That being said, I changed my earring sooner than the recommended six months, and I didn't have any problems. As long as you are vigilant about cleaning it, you SHOULD be ok, but the cartilage is very delicate and prone to random infections.

Also, I'm not sure what type of hoop you want to put in it, but keep in mind that the seamless ones are very painful to close with new cartilage piercings. Get a bigger one, in case your ear swells a little bit.

    Be safe and good luck!

  2. Three months Is Probably Good Especially If Youve Been Cleaning It So Often!

    Good Luck!

  3. 3 weeks

  4. Sounds like your all good. Go for it.

  5. yeah, its fine to change it to whatever you want to, 6 weeks is really all you needed to wait.

  6. Well i never got my cartilage  done but i did do my lobe done and i had to wait six months but my friend did her cartilage and changed it to a hoop after 2 months so you should be good

  7. you might not want to change it to a hoop right away.

cause about 4 and a half months after i got mine done, i put a hoop in adn a bubble formed.

the hole isnt used to the curved ring so it gets irritated. you should wait until its completely healed. i took the hoop out of mine when the bubble formed, and then about 5 months later, i tried putting another one and it was fine.

  8. They say one year to let the hole keep, but you can change it now.  I changed mine after a month and it was fine.  Just keep cleaning it everyday and you'll be fine!  Good Luck!
