  1. you need some software

    http://cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/d...

  2. Look on the front of your CD drive, if it says CDRW or CDR then you have a CD burner...   If it just says CDROM, then you don't.

  3. I have a computer from 1995 with CD-burning technology.

Tell me what the message was exactly (edit your question) and I'll try to help.

  4. possibly,

The age or when you bought your computer doesn't have any bearing on whether or not it was built with a burner.

Try this, take any discs out of your cd-rom drive, click my computer and try to drag something onto your cd-rom drive. if it lets you, then windows xp sees your drive as a cd-r or -rw drive (a burner)

If not, then you probably just have a cd-rom drive. try looking at tigerdirect.com for one, they have them for  less than $30 I think.

  5. It should do, if not then download Nero. That's what I use.

  6. Easy, look close on the tray that opens and closes to insert a CD, there should be a label there CD Recorder or something like that .

It is a logo, if it has CDR / CDR+ / CDRW you do have one, if not just CD ROM, then it is just a reader.

MOST likely it is a burner.

Another way to know, Open windows explorer, where you can see your C:\ drive, right click on the CD Drive (most likely D:\) and click properties... on the tabs there , it will telll you what it is
