I got my ear pierced lat Tuesday, and I hadn't been very persistent in cleaning it until sunday...?

ever since last friday my ear has been paining me, and it's a little swollen and red. I got it done at Claires' with a gun. Any ideas to make the pain and swelling down? And any other comments?

ice will help a lot (with swelling and pain) but it sounds like its infected, and may only get worse.  you may want to make a visit to your doctor for an oral antibiotic, doctors see piercing infections all the time, its nothing to be embarrassed about! you can take any pain reliever for the pain, and that will at least take the edge off!

put some ice on it, keep it clean... piercing guns are really the worst way to go. I made the same mistake when i was young and mine got infected and closed in like, a month. a lot of people get it done and are ok, but really it should've been done at a piercing shop with a needle. The guns are never completely sterile and its forcing a more blunt object thru your ear with force instead of cleanly piercing it with a super sharp needle.

When you have your ear pierced for the first time you really need to clean them everyday with alcohol. The alcohol will clean them. Leave them in for six weeks and then take them out, if they still look red and swollen put some alcohol on the ear and then when that dries but some bascitrasm on it and the combination will help get it cleared up.
