I got my ears pierced, and now my earlobes are itchy..?

I got my ears pierced again ( i have two piercings on each ear), and lately they have been very itchy. I have normal earrings on, because I got them pierced a few months ago, and I can wear normal earrings now. My earlobes have been very itchy and red. I did have small bumps on my ears too. I took off the earrings, and they still itched. My mother made me put my earrings back in because my holes were closing up, and my ears are severely itchy and sore.

Why are my earlobes so itchy? What can I do to help with the itchiness?

  1. they are still trying to get used to it, you can get sum alcohol on them, and u can take yourself to the chemist, and get them to look at them and they can tell you what to put on them, but dont use anything else but the achhol and dont wear fake earings try stivking to gold, trust me it helps, if itchiness persists contact your local gp,

  2. put alcohol a lot and the itchy will go away

  3. Your ears are itchy because the earrings are silver. Silver is BAD. It reacts with the sulfur in your body, forming a toxic substance called silver salt. Change the jewelry to titanium. And clean with salt-water.

You can do this two ways...

    A) (The lazy way; i normally use this way when i got to the gym and can't do proper hot sea salt soaks....) But 0.9% saline solution at the pharmacist (buy in small packets, as they become contaminated after opening and you don't want to be using a single contaminated packet for 6 months!) Take one end of a q-tip and saturate it with the saline solution. clean the front of the earring. take the other end of the q-tip, saturate it with saline, and clean the back.

    B) (The proper way; this is much better, as the heat encourages the dead cells and lymph to escape.) Mix 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodised sea salt into 1 cup of HOT WATER. Wait for it to cool a bit, and when it's as hot as you can bear, dip your ear in for 5-10 minutes. Repeat with the other ear.

Both of these methods, do it 3 times a day for 4 months. Don't spin the jewelry or even touch the jewelry; all you'll be doing is spinning all the germs and gunk back into the piercing and disturbing the healing cells. Your jewelry will not stick to your skin if it's made of good materials!

Don't use alcohol or the ear care solution given to you by your piercer. Alcohol is WAY too harsh, and will kill your skin cells instead of encouraging it to heal (that's why it stings). In addition to that, Alcohol kills the transient (good) bacteria in your skin, letting the invasive (bad) bacteria in.  In fact, don't ANYTHING ELSE other than sea-salt or saline solution. You will irritate it and make it harder to heal.

  4. sometimes that happens with my ears too even though ive had both of my holes for like 3 years. normally for me its the earrings, even sterling silver irritates my ears. or maybe you just have to clean the earrings.

  5. The itchiness means it's healing. That's what my mom said.

    Don't worry you'll be okay.

    :)

  6. sounds like an allergic reaction to the jewelry

try something that is nickel free. if you're still having issues, go to a doctor.

  7. make sure your not allergic to them... you may be allergic to it if it is slightly different to what your used to wearing eg. gold/silver

make sure you clean them with surgical spirit.

if your still having problems with them go to your doctor or the place you had them pierced they may be able to help

    hope this helps :-)

  8. the itchy part means they are healing and thats a good sign honestly the bump might be a scar tissue or a keloid. when i got mine ears done they was always itchy really and i have 10 of them and when i got my navel done it was itchy as well.

there is nothing you can do about the itchy part it just that they are healing thats all. you just have to live with the itchy part for a while and it will go away they heal in 6-8 weeks.

when i changed my earrings to gauge horse shoe earring they was every itchy for a while cause i went from 18g to 16g and then my gold balls i went to an 18g so they was itchy as well. try having 8 itchy piercings...

  9. that just means that they are healing.

    the itchy part anyhow.

    ORR

you could be allergic to some earings.

like if i buy cheap earings my ears get infected really quick.

  10. They are either still healing or risking infection. I would do the peroxide or alcohol on them a lot to help clear them up. make sure you are soaking your earings in one of the two solutions as well to clear them up. Sometimes if you don't clean the earings before you put them in that can cause them to itch as well. The only other thing would be to call your Dr and see what they say about it. It could be an allergic reaction to a certain kind of metal too.

    GOOD LUCK!

  11. infection. use alcohol
