  1. Realistically, no one person here can tell you how much help you will get from any grant, loan, work-study sources etc, without knowing which college you will be attending, what their tuition rate is, what the details are from your FAFSA, which includes certain tax return information.

You will get an 'award letter' letting you know the details of what you will get, within about 6 weeks, sometimes much shorter - depending on the caseload of the financial aid department at your college / university.

The best thing you can do is wait until that award letter comes.  Your financial aid package could fulfill all of your needs - or it may not, again, it depends on your personal circumstances.

Realistically speaking though, if your EFC is $864, your family - again, depending on your personal circumstances / your schools tuition etc, could be expected to contribute approximately $864 towards your education for the year.

For more info on EFC, please link to the http://fafsa.ed.gov website, and peruse their FAQ's and all of the other information on this site, call them at 1-800-4-FED-AID, or link to: http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/s...  and click on the 2008-2009 PDF under "completing your FAFSA, The EFC Formula

    Good luck !

  2. well, that depends on what your efc is.
