I got my green card in Nov 2006.And then I got married to a US Citizen in Dec 2006. When can I apply for citizenship. I do not think it really matters now that how I got my Green card, but just to let you know it was through asylumm. Thank you .And i forgot to ask if I have to notify immigration or not of my marrige

  1. no, you don't need to notify immigration about your marriage; especially when you're not going to benefit from it. so no, you don't need to tell immigration....


  2. You don't have to tell USCIS about your marriage. And it really matters how you got green card when you are considering the eiligibility of US Citizenship.  

  3. Just need to tell them if you change your name and address.

  4. You were supposed to notify immigration of your marriage right away!  Do it right away.  If you are on a conditional green card, you can apply for removal of conditions after you have had your conditional green card for 2 years.

  5. You should tell immigration about your marriage, since you need to update your documents with immigration until you finally get your American citizenship
