  1. He needs to get to know you. Feed him some sunflower seeds (my hamster loved those) and try holding him. But don't jostle him, or he may bite you. It may take a while, but soon he'll trust you.

  2. just keep walking by his cage and talk to him every so often and then he will get use to you after a couple more days

  3. New pets need time to get used to their new surroundings; new smells, new sounds, new sights, new people, ect. I advise you to leave him be for a day or so with a blanket partly or totally covering his cage to give him time and space to settle his nerves. Introduce yourself to him a little at a time. Don't yet try to pick him up or handle him, because he could resond by biting you. Start by letting him sniff your hand on the third or second day, and offer him some food. He'll start to trust you. After a week or so, try handeling him on your lap with a blanket and offer him some food. That should do it. Be patient and kind with a gentle hand on him. Taking care of small animals is fun, but it needs work. Have fun,  =D Here are some websites with more info.

  4. put him on your bed or in a wide space for like a long time but watch him. Pick him up and let him smell you every day every once and a while and he'll eventually know you're smell. I hope I helped!

Best of luck with you and your hamster!

  5. what yuo have to do is let him get use to his surroundings i had one an this is what i did you let him do that then you feed him outta your hand talk to him let him kno that ur not goint to harm him an then u will be able to hols him everything else if you have anymore questions just ask

  7. Max,

Hamsters are very skittish little things and it takes a really really long time to gain their trust.  Remember, hamsters have only been used as pets for about 60 years so it's not like they are dogs or something like that... there is still a lot of wild critter in them.

Start slow by putting your hand near him or feed him a treat once a day.  Try a super tiny bit of apple or a sunflower seed.  Don't try to pet him, just get him used to your huge hand being in his space.  It might take weeks until he starts approaching you on his own when you show up -- he'll think your bringing treats.  Go slow and win his trust but most of all, don't overly handle him at first or he could get scared and really aggressive with you, then your problems will be huge.  I know its really hard not to pick him up all the time and love him cause he is so cute and furry but just hang out for awhile. Good luck!

  8. You have to let him look at you everyday in a week he might know you.
