someone told me that if u dont have a drivers license in the us that your passport acts as oneis that true?

  1. no, you need to have a drivers license to drive. i think what was meant is a US passport is a valid form of identification (because the Drivers license is the most common form of ID in the US).

    False, You cant use the Passport as a "driver license" to get behind the wheel and drive..

  3. It acts as ID, but not as "the ability to get behind a wheel and drive" license.  

  4. The passport can be used in lieu of a driver's license as a form of ID.  However it is not a license to drive or operate a vehicle.  You must get a driver's license to do that.  In order to get a driver's license one must take a written and driving exam and pass before being accepted to get a license.  In this sense, it is not the same as a passport.
