I got my remote control wet, what to do?

my remote falled on a glass of water, and i removed the batteries right away, dried the remote but wont work anymore, what should i do?

if you can, dismantle the remote and wipe the contacts clean.. or i heard dunk it in rice for a while and have the rice soak up the remaining water..
