  1. put lots of pressure on it, and dont let go even if the gause is full of blood. it slows down the bleeding, and try to bite in between your teeth to keep it there so your hand isnt in your mouth for a long time. try watching some tv.

  2. some oozing is normal after an extraction; i just had mine out a few weeks ago in the afternoon and was oozing until nighttime.

for a blood clot to form, you need to biting on the gauze for at least 30-50 min, and not be talking.  the blood needs time to clot and stay in the area; 10 min isn't going to cut it.  also, if you're taking any aspirin, that's gonna inhibit clotting, since aspirin acts as a blood thinner.  don't take aspirin for pain; take advil or tylenol.

another thing: don't drink through a straw for the next 3-4 days.  the negative pressure from sucking through a straw can dislodge your blood clot.  if you don't bleed anymore, the area where you had your tooth extracted will develop something called a dry socket, which is extremely painful.

for food, soft food diet only, and chew on the other side.  no nuts or pretzels.  frozen yogurt, porridge, stuff like that is better.

    hope that helps
