  1. yep, Though it's not fun.

  2. Yes, and sleeping in bed is fine as long as you can handle the discomfort.

  3. I would leave the gauze in and go ahead and sleep as usual.  Change out your gauze tom. morn or if it is real soppy, now.  Good luck to you and I hope your not too sore for too long of a time.

  4. You only need to use the gauze to absorb the blood. If they've stopped bleeding, you can discontinue the gauze. Your dentist/oral surgeon should have given you directions. Sleep wherever you're most comfortable, but I'd hesiate to sleep lying down with a mouthful of gauze.

If you weren't given any directions, the most important thing is to avoid getting a "dry socket." that happens when the blood clot becomes dislodged from the socket and is very painful. To avoid this, Do everything gently for a few days. Avoid smoking (if you're a smoker), don't use a straw to drink, eat and drink very carefully. If you swish with saltwater (which you should have been instructed to do), do it very, very gently, not like you would with mouthwash.

Remember, you'll be good as new in a few days! Good luck!
