I'm a little confused on what exactly it is. Is it for poor kids? because I'm not poor? is it for kids who are the first to go to college? Both my parents went to college but didn't finish. What is the point of me going? is it a remedial program?(I get a's and B's) So what is it for me? is it a good or a bad thing? explain, and please don't just copy somethign form the internet. i really want a straight form the heart answer.

  1. Do some internet research, this is what I found:

    http://www.regionvavid.org/default.aspx?...

It's for good students and its like they use you for a survey...

  2. Hi,

My son was selected to be in AVID. It is not for the economically challenged(poor). This program is for average(grades) students that have the capability of being above average students. This program will put you in honors classes and a base class that will be directed toward keeping you organized. Most Avid Students need just a little help to get them to the next level. College is not for everyone but you should always leave your options open. If you participate in AVID and take advantage of this opportunity you will not regret it. From what you said your grades are pretty good, one of your teachers probably thinks you have what it takes to be EXCELLENT! You should be proud that someone has noticed these qualities in you. Don't look at educational programs as being for the poor. Your AVID class will be a blend of students from all economic classes. Your goal needs tobe for you to take advantage of every opportunity that life has to offer. Not for your PARENTS but for YOU! I hope this helps.

Also, I want to commend you for seeking out additional resources for a answer.
