I got schengen visa, but I got strange letters, What are they?

I obtained schengen visa to greece, but in the first row, it is written that it is valid for (D-DR-E-FR-D-GR) what do that mean?

  1. A Schengen visa can be different categories (something which is not commonly known) which entitle you to different rights of access.  (You can read more here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_ar...

    However, the first line on a Schengen visa is indeed the "valid for" (which countries) but some of the abbreviations do not make sense (at least to the countries currently included in the Schengen zone).

    Therefore I agree with Airpole, you really should contact the issuing authority (embassy) to verify this.


  2. You should check with the issuing office. As a wild guess I would say, D for Germany , E for Spain , FR for France . GR for Greece. The other D and DR are the confusing ones.

    Possibly Denmark .

  3. If you google country abbreviations will give you all possible codes for all countries.
