I got spacers and braces now my gums are swollen?

I tried gurgling with salt water but nothing works. Are my gums suppose to swell up???

  1. Aspirin and consider getting a water pik .. add warm salted water to aim the pik to your gums and use the wax to apply to your braces.

    Your gums yes will swell up from the work done to your teeth and the braces, the wax should help .. eat about an hour before going to the orthodontist and eat soft foods after if you must

    When they come off you will have beautiful teeth


  2. Yes that can happen especially if you have sensitive gums. Just take a little tylenol and the antiinflammatory component will reduce the swelling

  4. Gum swelling intially when you get braces and spacers is normal. If you have pain, then you can take some anti inflammtory and pain killer otherwise try to maintain good oral hygenie. Use special orthodontic brush for brushing your teeth and keep on doing warm saline rinses. This will take care of your swollen gums. When your gums will be adapted to postion of the teeth which are being moved, the gums will becomes will become normal may be within a 1-2 weeks.
