I got stung by a wasp?

Question

my partner had a wasp in her hair so i flicked it away with my leather jacket.

5 miniutes later sitting in the cafe i felt a tickling sensation on my arm under my jacket but ignored it 10 seconds later i felt a sharp feeling like one of my hairs on my arms was stuck to my jacket.

so i took my jacket off and a wasp flew out.

looking down at my arm i could see the sting sac still stuck in so remembering how too deal with them i flicked it out.

on closer ispection i noticed id been stung twice once where the sac was and secondly on a large scar on my arm so i did not feel it as scars have no nerve endings.

my question is i only thourght bees left there stings behind not wasps but this one did why?is there a new spieces?

and yes it was a wasp becuase it stung twice and i saw it clearly

i also fell into a wasp nest when i was young so know the difference.

Inspect the body parts carefully and remove if any thing left on your skin like its needle likeobject.

Apply antisptic solution or after shave lotion

I have been keeping honey bees for several years now and i feel pretty confident about answering this one.

your right wasps do not usualy lose there stinger.  you probably squised and roled him around while he was stinging you causing him to lose his stinger.

  Some form of benidryl or antihistamine will help with the itching and possibly the swelling if taken soon after the sting. You will receive lots of input about thinngs like meat tendorizer, tobacco,baking soda an other topical treatments. they are all just wives tales. I have tried and none seam to work. the venom of a wasp is different than that of a honey bee. a honey bees venom is an irritant used to defend the hive while a wasps venom is used to kill its prey. My best advice is to not rub or scratch and let it run its course. it is normal for it to be sore for a coupel of days
