ive had my lobes pierced since i was one. i bought tapers today at hot topic. they are 12s. and i already put them in. i did one at a time and i put them slowly avoiding any blow outs.

my ears got really hot after but now they are fine and it doesn't hurt it just feels a bit warm like if i pierced my ears again.

i need tips on how to take care of it to prevent infection and for safe healing.

what can i do?

also i cant turn the tapers.. like turn them while they're in my lobe has like tightened a bit my friend said its normal and that in a few days ill be able to turn it a bit. is this true?

  1. Yes, it is true.

    Just keep cleaning them.

  2. tapers are meant to be used as a means of stretching only. NOT as jewelry. In other words, you're not supposed to leave them in. This can cause uneven stretching and a tilt to the holes in your ears.

If you got them at hot topic, they're either steal of some likely low quality or acrylic. Neither of these materials should be used in freshly stretched ears. They're fine to stretch with but you need to replace them with high quality surgical grade stainless steal, titanium, or glass. If they ARE acrylic, which is a porous material, the fistula is likely sticking because of this. Acrylic will stick to healed lobes and cause them to tear. Your fresh lobes are in dangerous territory. If its steal, you're in less trouble unless you have a metal allergy.

The best advice i've found for stretching ears is right here: http://forums.bodyartforms.com/forums/t/...

It may seem a h**l of a lot slower than you've seen other people do, but trust me, healthy lobes are better than quickly stretched lobes.

    Good luck!

  3. I have my ears stretched to a 2guage. I had many problems in between...no blowouts tho. Lots of infections.

But anyways...a few days afterwards i could never turn the tapers, its fine don't worry about it.

My best advice is to just leave them alone. As long as i didnt mess around with them or play with them, they have been fine. I use polysporin to stretch them, and then i will apply polysporin nightly for a couple of days. After that, I just leave them alone.

Sometimes they get really dry (or mine do anyways during the healing process), so i use a little bit of vaseline.

My advice for stretching them? Take a really hot shower, and when you get out, soak your ear for about 5mins in fairly hot water. Take out your original taper, put some polysporin (i use polysporin cause its a good lube, and it prevents infection) and slide it through. There should never be blood.

That was the best way for me personally to stretch them, and after doing that, I could sleep on the ear that night.

Another tip....dont rush your stretches, or skip sizes. Wait at least 3weeks before another stretch, a month is best.

  4. just look it up on google. =]]

  5. clean them regularly, its also best to put some vitamin e oil on them.

and as funny as it sounds, if you lube your ears up with the oil before changing sizes, they will go in alot easier.

but dont change sizes to fast, your ears can rip!
