While trying to install a game on this computer (the computer has Windows XP, if that matters) I received the following error message as soon as I put in the disk.

"The procedure entry point UnMapLS could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."

What can I do to fix this and play my game?

  1. It would appear that you have the wrong version of a .dll file.  You can find more information here...

  2. You may need to replace your kernel32.dll with a different version.

The unmapLS is used for programs written for win95 and 98. Before replacing your kernel32.dll try different compatibilty modes first.

  6. Its Missing a A File. The CD may be damaged or you may need

to reinstall the CD. if neither works than you got a defective CD.

  7. umm i don't know what game it is but i suppose you can try restarting your computer. if that doesnt work, i guess try system restore? Maybe that helps

  8. Re install your windows

  9. Your KERNEL32.dll is one of the following:

missing - either deleted or never installed

old - doesn't contain the entry point called

new - changed the entry point (this shouldn't happen since shared DLLs should not change existing interfaces)

corrupt - Something has corrupted your DLL (any recent virus attacks or are you maybe using a cracked Windows OS?)

I'd first run Windows Update to see if patches will resolve the problem.  If that doesn't work, you can inspect the properties of the DLL to find a version number and then work with the game software support team to see if they can recommend a specific version of the DLL to use.  Given the name of the DLL, it is probably provided by Microsoft so you could get it off the Windows CD if you need an older version.

  10. Sorry you cant get the computer man in!!!!
