  1. well first of all u should have thought about this before getting a cat! but i have a kitten and we just leave out food and water for her for whenever she wants. the best kitten chow is purina (my cat likes meow mix alot)

  2. some vets recommend twice a day but i have found that a cat will eat only what it needs so i put down a cup of good food fresh every morning per cat and in the afternoon check the bowl again if they are not eating then i leave it till it is gone then replemish it again . then again if it is a kitten just go along according to it's needs some kittens eat every 2 hours some every 4 hours and i used the kitten milk for strong bones and teeth

  3. You can either feed her ala carte or you can read the back of the bag of food you bought for feeding amounts for her size.

  4. Well, I suggest feeding her KittenChow, and since it's dry food, you could give it to her in the morning, and leave it out all day, so your cat can eat it when it's hungry. The amount you should feed her is on the side labels, but I'll tell you any way.

For a cat that is 7 weeks - 6 months old (which is your cat), you need to feed it 1/3 - 3/4 a cup a day.

If you want it to have feeding times, then 3 times a day will do.

If you want your cat to have some extra flavor, you could add some wet food (1 spoonfull), then mix.

Also, make sure you provide fresh cold water daily, play with her with some toys, for example string, and provide a scratching post made of rope if possible, until your cat is declawed, and if you don't want to declaw her, then you have to clip her nails at a groomer or a vet. Kitten= Once a week. Adult= Once every two will suffice.

Also, I know cats love milk, but you can't give her the one we drink, because it can cause diareah. So give her the one in the stores that's especially made for kittens/cats.

Make sure to take her to the vet for regular check ups. Call your vet so you can schedule an appointment, and so your vet can tell you what's good for your cat. :)

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW KITTY!!!

  5. I just adopted a 12 wk old kitten, and we've been leaving out about 1/2 cup of dry food every morning--she has yet to empty the bowl, so I think that she's eating as much as she needs.  I bought Purina kitten food, and she seems to like it well enough, but try to find out what your kitten was eating before you got her, and buy the same.  That makes one less stressful transition that she has to endure.

    Best of luck!

  6. Please go to the library or call a vet's office to receive the correct information.  It is very important that your pet receives the proper age-appropriate nutrition.  You have taken on a responsibility!

  7. Purina is not at all a good cat food. I am a certified pet trainer, and have had to take all kinds of nutrition classes. A young kitten should be kept on milk if it is still not eating on his/her own. 14 weeks is old enough to be weaned.  You can feed it a dry kitten food. Look for a brand that does not contain corn or a lot of wheat. Corn is not digestable and just means that you'll have to feed more of it more often. Wheat can cause allergies.  Nutro, Blue, Nature's Recipe, or Bil Jac are examples of much better cat food for your cat, if you want a higher quality brand.

  8. You should buy her a dried kitten food like purina kitten chow and use that for the first year.  You need to make sure that she can eat the dried food.  If she can, then most cats will self regulate if you just make sure there is some in her bowl all the time.  If she can't eat the dried food then you need to give her wet food (doesn't need to be kitten food, just regular wet cat food).  If she's exclusively on the wet food then you will need to start with three times a day and then you can work down to twice a day.  You should start mixing some of the dried food into the wet food in order to get her to be able to eat the dried.  She should be able to make this transition rather quickly. Make sure she always has water and you should change it every day to make sure its fresh.  Cats like fresh water.  Finally, I know you did not ask for this advice but make sure you bring her to the vet right away for a check-up and shots.  The vet will tell you what to do in order to keep her healthy.   DO NOT give milk since it can cause diarrhea.

  9. This can depend on her size, as well as the brand of food you had bought for her.

If you're only allowing her to eat dry:

Kittens / Puppies should eat 2-3x's daily. I would place DRY kibble out in the morning, afternoon, & evening. A 1/2 or 1 cup would work of regular dry kibble. Once the cat has began to grow (also depends on the size) decrease the amount of kibble you're allowing her to have. Instead of 3x's daily, decrease it to 2x's daily.

    Dry & Wet food plan:

Leave a small amount of dry food out all day long. (re-fill when needed)

Offer your kitten a 1/2 CAN or 1/2 Pouch of wet food in the morning, after & evening. The kibble will simply be out for 'nibble' purposes. You will want to increase the amount of wet food to 1 CAN, or 1 Pouch when the kitten begins to grow.

    Good luck.

  10. I think you should feed your cat as many times as you feed yourself.Cats love cat food, you can get them anywhere. But i think you should give her a wonderful present.Make a fish dish yourself and give it to her.Milk is what cats love,so give her that too.For sleeptime, cats love being cozy,so keep her warm.Cats are easy pets to keep and soon you will enjoy life with her.

  11. 14 weeks, check if she has a lot of teeth, if she doesn't just continue feeding her milk.
