I haven't tried because my jaw has been too stiff, but I woke up today and the stiffness is almost gone. I haven't smoked either, but if I do will it hurt anything?

  1. Of course it is.. start with something simple like eggs and toast. You need to chew or your jaw will stiffen up for lack of use.

I had 4 taken out and the only day I was really out of it was the first day, by the third day I was eating most foods.

  2. It should be fine to try some more solid foods, but use your head. If it hurts to eat something, don't eat it. I would avoid popcorn or rice or nuts and grainy things for a bit longer, but regular food should be okay.

As far as smoking goes, you made it this far....why go back?? If you still want to smoke, it should be fine, as fine as smoking goes. The risk of dry socket is generally past after 3 days.

  3. It should be fine. But let me give you a heads up just because the stiffness is gone doesn't mean anything. It will hurt when you try to eat solid foods.

  4. I personally don't think you should eat solid foods again just yet. I would wait at least a full week. For me, I waited a week and a half before I ate anything remotely solid. If your jaw has been stiff, it will be hard for you to chew anyway. And even if the stiffness feels like it's gone now, it will be stiff when you start chewing. Besides, it would be better to not have too much going on in your mouth to let the holes heal well in the beginning. Just wait a few more days before you eat solid foods, or even smoking.
