I gotta wear a leotard?

Ive beeen informed i have to wear a leotard? are they for boys? for ballet.

they are for boys, but usually ppl wear shorts or something over them.

or, you could wear a unitard.

in some studios they have guys wear a shirt and pants, but it's better not to wear separates

Yeah, they make leotards for boys.

I generally refer to them as 'mantards' (one of the guys I work with is a wrestling coach, and we always joke about him running around in a mantard).

They are, how shall we say... revealing to say the least.

I've been fortunate to only have had to put on a pair of shiny silver tights one time (as a medieval soldier for a school production of  'the mouse who roared') - at least I had a tunic and some leg armor on over them though...

Leotards are a bit uncomfortable at first for girls, I can only imagine the problems guys have with them.  But don't worry!  That wasn't supposed to scare you.  It would be unprofessional for your school to require you to wear a leotard with nothing else.  It's actually considered feminine and schools, as a general rule, don't do it.  They usually make you wear something like this:

Now, I know you're probably cringing at your computer, but it's not the worst you'll find.  Let me inform you right now that you'll have to wear something tight, so you might as well get used to it.  Shorts work too -- and they don't have to be like biker shorts.  Just put on some shorts that are at the mid-thigh or above.  Generally men don't look glamorous in ballet class, and that's OK.

My suggestion to you is to wear something that's tight-fitting but comfortable.  Find something that suits you.  Usually with that unitard, the guys in my school wear a white t-shirt.  Just as long as you look professional, can move, and are comfortable (at least to some extent), you'll be fine.

you should try a unitard because that is a leo with shorts. they are out there!

my studio requires males to wear either a tight t-shirt or a leotard.  i wear a white leotard with black tights over it

noooo for boys you have to wear a white shirt and tights.... but thats just my studio...

Yes you get them for guys! Just wesr short over them.
