I had 3 glasses of red wine last night and ended up feeling really, really drunk and started crying, ranting?

on about past issues with my husband etc. It's almost as if I had an allergic reaction to the wine. I mean - I can usually have 3 glasses and just feel tipsy or comfortably silly but not totally pissed! Has anyone else ever had this - is it just me being drunk or can there be stuff in the wine which I've reacted badly to?

ps I can get an allergic reaction to some pesticides on fruit and veg if I don't wash it - but am not allergic to anything else.

  1. I totally understand. I cry when drinking way too much.

You have to be carefull about your moods before taking those sips.

  2. Cheap wine? Old wine? Really tired? Just in a bad mood at the time? A few thoughts.

  3. It may have been your hormones. Sometimes alcohol effects us worse when it's that lovely time of the month.

  4. And that is why im never going to drink....

  5. its was very hot day , you were properly already dehydrated, then add the red whine, voila,  in your cups, drunk, it just happens , its funny what affects you when you are dehydrated.

  6. happened to us last weeekend..I think cause i had some supressed issues I needed to let out-

  7. You were probably already tired and/or dehydrated.

  8. oh yes  ,,it certainly has that effect on me,i had t give it up.i didnt relise but after even 2 glasses i was evil ,,said awful things,,i have a couple of white wine and i am fine,my poor hubby suffered loads,,,give it up   it dont agree with you,,good luck.xx

  9. Three glasses of red table wine plus emotional outbursts unfortunately = pissed a lots.

Booze is best consumed with the mind under control, relaxed and happy.

What you have experienced is what I think must be the female equivalent of 'aggression' - you were probably already hyped up emotionally; throw a couple of umphs of booze onto the fire and wham!

Hope you feel better soon and can enjoy a glass or few of red wine without the aggro.

Don't under estimate female aggression - think of Queen Boudicca who lead her British Army to totally destroy two Roman Legions and the cities of Colchester and London - both burned down to a crisp.

What the h**l was she on?

Don' tell me, three glasses of red wine right!

  10. That's odd - I never get anything like that - but then again, I gave up drinking some years ago.  Solves all those problems ! ! !

  11. this happens from time to time, I think it depends on your mood, what you have eaten that day, if you are tired, the weather, that kind of thing, for some reason when Im on my period I get drunker easier then, dont know why!

  12. Alcohol is a depressant, if you were already feeling down, with conscious or subconscious feelings about your husband, the alcohol can reduce your ability to manage your emotional state.  The consequent emotional release, and the very real hormonal release that that can trigger together can have an overwhelming effect, far greater than the alcohol would have had if you were content when you started drinking.

A trick is to eat something you like, chocolate especially, before drinking.  The endorphin release from the pleasure of eating enhances your mood, and therefore when the alcohol relaxes your emotional control you will feel more happiness rather than less.  Less prosaically, it also slows the alcohol absorption rate and stops it affecting you too quickly.
