  1. Who withheld $700 and who did you not give consent to?

IF you owe the IRS and have an installment agreeement and you were expecting a refund or rebate from your 2007 filing then IRS offset the refund and rebate to the debt.

IF you have an installment agreeement with IRS then read your installment agreement Terms and Conditions.

IF you are not talking about IRS then re-ask your question with more details.

  2. What was this withheld from?  And what was it for?

If your employer was served with a garnishment order, they have no choice but to comply with it.  If they didn't, they'd be held in Contempt of Court.

If money was withheld from your tax refund or stimulus rebate then that's done according to the law.  If you have a qualifying tax or non-tax debt that can be covered by offsetting your tax refunds, the money is taken automatically.  Nothing you can do about that.

  3. YOU HAD YOUR WAGES GARNISHED! Pay your child support, Dude! Or maybe you should Pay your taxes, dude!

  4. We need a whole lot more information about this.  What is it first of all - back taxes?  Who was the agreement with?  Do you have it in writing?  Are you working with a lawyer?  If not out of a paycheck, where else would money be withheld from - all tax withholding comes from paychecks, if you are talking about quarterly taxes or the like, they would be tax payments, not withholding.

  5. If you owe money, they can legally garnish your wages.  However, you are usually notified first.

Were you no paying your $100 a week?
