“I had Nothing to do” Says Nadal in his after match press conference
Admitting that he had “nothing to do” to perform near “perfect”, Spaniard, Rafael Nadal, World No.2, was less than what Roger Federer presented on hard court at their tie at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals event. “The result is real”; Nadal told the press after the match, to dismiss any scepticism about persuasive 6-3 6-0 he approved the world number four in just one hour.
"The score of today is not misleading, he was brilliant at all times, and when you play this level in this area, now is better," Spaniard explained. Wanting to emphasize that the physical dilemma that bothered him during the fixture against American, Mardy Fish, two days before, did not influence the world No.2’s defeat against the Swiss Maestro.
Nadal was in perfect condition to play against the former world No.1, and experienced perfection to its utmost level as Federer cleared up the tie quick and without any clanger.
"Tired? I'm tired now, before you do not. I will not lie, I played the best I could, but it was not enough tonight," said the Spaniard, expressing that his performance was not up to his expectations, however, could not deny the fact that the Swiss overcame him by his excellent performance.
Not wanting to put some physical predicament an excuse for his defeat, Nadal emphasized that he is one of those players who have played considerable more games this season and also repeated these statements prior to the start of the event on the very hectic timetable for the players.
"This is my seventh year being the number one or two, and I'm the one that leads to back games. And I still have the Davis Cup final and start preparing for next season," lamented Nadal.
However, the Spaniard has still got a chance to put himself through to the semis stage as he goes on against Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the third and the final game of the group stage of Barclays ATP World Tour Finals event, where the King of Clay would try to reach the semi-finals and further to the closing rounds.
"I'm calm, I know I'm doing the right thing and today I felt especially bad on the track. It is now time to sink a result: the season is good, and will remain so even the next day start to lose 6-3 6-0, “said Rafa, ending his conference.
Critics measure this loss as a downfall of Nadal because he has been in perfect form and it’s been this year that the world No.2 has lost to many of his lower ranked competitors and lost most of his defending title spots. Anyhow, the Spaniard is still looking positive to strike back on tour.
