Question:

I had a 120mph fastball in high school ('74) and I played minors with the Phillies. Why didn't I get drafted?

I played American Legion and all the scouts were after me! Was I great? Fresno St., Wichita St., U of GA.(big baseball schools for those that know) all tried to get me but I decided to skip college and rely on raw talent, (was I great?) not many can throw 125mph at 17 yrs. old. Was I great? But the minors cut me. Is that my answer? Was I great? I'm not bragging at all. Was I great? Was I? Come on.

  1. Did you go to the same school as the guy who hit everything over 700 ft. or are you the same guy.

Or maybe they were looking for a good fastball that was throw within 25 ft. of the plate.

  2. because ur a faker not even mlb pitchers can throw 120 stop flattering urself joel zumaya is the fastest pitcher in the majors nd the fastest he ever threw was 107 even the great nolan ryan didn't throw that fast he also topped out at 107. even if it was possible to throw that fast you would have maybe  a 2 year career because of shoulder and arm problems.

  3. Oh, Buzz, did you get your account suspended again? Doesn't anyone believe you?

Relax. Most teams want to wait on 13 year old stars, so wait a year or two, and you'll get your Cooperstown Plaque probably in the mail.

GUYS: Buzz is a Y! user who likes to make fun of the endless 14 year olds bragging about themselves. Stop taking his answers so seriously. Loosen up!

In this case he's joking with mmlee1 who asked basically the same thing a few minutes ago. Less exaggeration, of course.

  4. You're lying and anyway, minors look for accuracy throwing strikes, not just speed.

  5. your a liar thats why

  6. Do you mean KPH?

  7. i hate the retards that do that. 1. it is physically impossible to pitch that fast 2. the fastes mlb pitchers are 105 mph

  8. You're a robot.

  9. SIDD FINCH! I ALWAYS wondered what happened to you after Plimpton wrote the book! So, where you been keeping yourself these days?

  10. I was much like you as well...although I had a great fastball that I found out about on accident...I was at a Cubs game and my friend got a HR ball from the other team and wanted me to throw it back...well I threw it all the way to home from the bleachers and long story short the Cubs drafted me...really it's a brilliant story...someone should make a movie about it.

  11. Because they couldn't get a good enough catcher to catch you.

  12. I suggest you check to see if that speed-gun was a little off.  Besides, for the next 10 years or so, the Phillies had some really good pitching, so you might not have made it anyway.

  13. 120 MPH???? maybe as your release point, you probably lacked control or movement. also hitters can adjust to a pitcher who is only throwing heaters.

  14. u got a real good life goin' on over there, don't u buddy! get a life, sucker!

  15. Because ur full of sh*t.

  16. this is spam. someone else just asked this with the same details.

  17. You didn't get drafted because you have no class!

  18. You need to get your eyes checked.  In 74, you actually threw 12.0 mph, and then 12.5 mph at 17.  That little dot is a decimal; it separates the whole number from the fractional number.

  19. 120 mph fastball?  I'm inclined to not believe your claim. Unless your name is Sid Finch, I'm guessing that you spent more time smoking funny stuff under the bleachers than pitching.  At the very least, your memory seems to be rather bad.

  20. But did you throw strikes????

  21. u were great
