She apparently left money. Obviously, this is a long-lost relative who we never knew existed. We want to know if this is a hoax or not. This is going to court. But, the family wants to check for facts about her and to know if the woman existed. We were sent her death certificate from the Superior court and we know where she died(which hospital) this happened 4 years ago.

  1. go to unclaimed-money.com for CA & put yours or whoever is suppost to be recieving money I found money i didn't know about...also found money from a past employer it was my last check! so go check it out...

  2. you can try looking up a birth record on Ancestry.com

  3. Check the Social Security Death Index.  It will have information on her if she died that recent.  Try http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/

If Social Security has records about her, she obviously existed.

If you have a copy of her death certificate, you should have a lot of information about her.  Who her parents were, where she was born, etc.  Investigate birth records where she was born.

Call/write the funeral home (listed on death cert) and ask them to give you as much info as they can.  Funeral homes keep very good records.  Find out if she is buried.  Call the cemetery and ask them for any information they have on her.

    Good luck.
