I got laid off last year and collected for 26 weeks then I decided to start school full time w/out notifying them. I had my hearing about school and availability for work. I go to school from 8- 2pm Mon thru Thurs. I can always get a job after school. Will I win the case??

  1. Not in PA.  They may unfortunately make you pay back anything you collected after you started school.  The whole purpose of UC is to assist while youre job hunting. You MUST be available to accept work at a moments notice and work whatever hours that particular job mandates- if youre in school, youre not able to do that. Also, you have to check in every week or two and one thing they ask is if you are available for work...when you answered yes, but was not (due to school), you lied.  THe sad part is, UC has school programs available (theyd love nothing more than to provide the unemployed with programs to obtain an education and/or another job).

  2. No.

You have to be out there looking for full time work to qulaify.

You might end up oweing them the money they have paid you since you started school and took yourself out of the full time employment search
