2007 DF 115 Suzuki outboard recently rebuilt. It ran fine after when I placed in at ramp. Could I have damaged the head? Breakin followed properly. Still in break in period.

  1. More info is needed to answer this question.  Was the water pressure on enough to give the impeller adequate supply of water to cool the motor?  Was the impeller replaced when you had the motor rebuilt?  Did some idiot test run the motor after it was rebuilt without hooking up water to the motor and thus FRIED the impeller.  What was the flow of water coming out of the cylinder head while it was being flushed?   I would stick in motor into a trash can filled with water and test the impeller and cooling system before taking it out again.  Remember, the water in the trash can will get hot after a short time of running the motor.  Just do a short test or keep adding more, cool water while testing.

  2. Did you shut it off as soon as the alarm sounded? If so you'll probably be fine. Why did it get hot, hose come off?

Why has a 2007 4 stroke outboard been rebuilt already???

  3. I concur with river rat..

but when you are flushing you u might want to run the hose not at full flow...just regular. And do nor rev engine when flushing with hose.
