Question:

I had a job interview a week ago?

The interview was a second interview and he said he would let me know in a few days on their descision. Should I call and ask if they have decided, or wait a little longer. They did not say wether they would let me know either way.

If I was rejected, what is a polite way to ask why and what I could improve on or have done better?

  1. I think a week is plenty of time, and they really should let you know either way. I would recommend sending a quick email or letter thanking the person/people who interviewed you. It'll serve as a reminder if they've just forgotten to contact you, and it should prompt a response of some kind.

If you get rejected and want to ask why, I think attitude is the most important thing. Make sure to say that you're trying to sharpen your skills and make yourself more attractive to employers, rather than just saying, "Why?" Even better, I'd suggest waiting a week and sending a letter requesting tips. It won't seem like you're just angry that you didn't get the job, and it'll give the person time to think about it (versus asking them over the phone or something).
