I was 9 weeks and 5 days pregnant when I had to go in and get a d&c because the baby was only 6 weeks with no heartbeat. I was still bleeding a lot 2 days later and they had to give me another d&c! Did the first doc. mess up? It just doesn't seem right to have to go through that twice. Cna I get pregnant again? I have a two year old and I had the easiest pregnancy with him.

  1. I only had to have one D&C when I miscarried, because I passed most of the tissue on my own, but I remember my doc telling me to come back to repeat the procedure if I had any excessive bleeding.

I had a great first pregnancy with my daughter, so having the miscarriage @ 16 weeks was very devastating. I am pregnant again, so you should be able to when you're ready. My doc advised me to wait at least three months, because of the D&C, and to give me time to heal physically and emotionally. Having a great pregnancy with your son is a good sign.

One thing to watch out for when you do get pregnant again is placenta previa. It's when your placenta lies low and covers the opening to the cervix. I've been diagnosed with this during my current pregnancy, and if it doesn't move up, I will have to have a c-section. Having a previous D&C increases the odds of this. A doctor can find this during an ultrasound.

    So sorry about your loss.

  2. This not un common, maybe there was still retained tissue, a second D&C is required when the bleeding is not controlled. talk to your doctor, and I am very sorry for your loss...
