I passed a really huge sac the other day which now im guessing was the baby along with tissue, as i just passed something not so big which looked like the afterbirth. I was in hospital with really severe cramps, i thought i was in labour and the nurse removed lots of clots and things, i thought she would of removed the afterbirth too but obviously not.

I feel like im dying, im always faint and lightheaded and i can't bring myself to eat anything and im still bleeding quite badly.

Should i feel better after passing the afterbirth?

Please if this has happened to you and you have any stories or advice please share them as nobody really talks about what is really going to happen so i would find some comfort in knowing other people have experienced the same thing.

I was 13 nearly 14 weeks, but my baby died between 11 and 12 weeks

  1. This is awful and i know how you feel .The same happened to me years ago now my son was just small, i remember i had terrible stomach cramps i had to put him in his cot so he would not go anywhere while i actually miscarried on the bathroom floor everthing came away just exactly what you have experienced. I went straight to the docs which he carried a thorough examination to deter if i needed a scrape, but i was told that everything had actually come away This will take a while to get over and it something you never forget, take care and we are all here for you and dont give up hope.Keep on trying

  2. I too am so sorry for your loss.  I agree with the other poster.  Get to the ER.

  3. Katherine, I am so very sorry for your loss.

You need to get yourself to the ER.  You should not be this sick.

    All the best.

  4. I am in the process off having a miscarriage, I am just over four weeks. I had cramps on Thursday and I just did not feel right. when I got up on Friday I had started to bleed heavy and with clots. Today I passed what looked like raw liver not very nice. I phoned the doctor today and was told to take it easy but to get to the hospital if the pain gets bad and the blood loss gets worse.

I was told to go to the doctor to have a scan. At the moment i do not want anyone to touch me

All I want to do right now is lay in a dark room and cry, but I have a son to look after as well. My partner is doing his best and he feels like a spare part he is not sure what to do and say. Just to have him here is a big help. The worse part for me is that I feel so empty, I know I was not far gone but I was still pregnant.

If you are in a lot off pain and the blood loss is very heavy you need to go back, and you take as much time as you need to recover

  5. OH I'm so sorry. :(  I am really praying for you right now. Get back to the ER, you should not be this sick. You may need to have a DnC. There's no harm in it, and you can get pregnant again (I did). The DnC will get rid of everything and you won't have to worry about whether you've lost it all and you will feel better immediately. You will still bleed a little, like a period, but you won't be sick. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon. You can have other babies in most cases. I'm sorry this happened.

  6. i had my miscarriage at 10 weeks so a little earlier than urs, but i know when i passed it, it all came at once- except for continuous bleeding- have you gone back and have a vaginal ultrasound done? that will definitely tell you if anything is still left. what is crazy is that i got pregnant less than a month after i had my miscarriage and im almost due now! just make sure that you are fully checked out by a doc- they might want to give you a DNC if they think anything is left

  7. That probly wasnt the afterbirth that you just passed, because the nurses wouldnt have let you go without having that out. You have to have the afterbirth out right after you have a baby, misscarriage or not.

I had a misscarriage at 13 weeks about 3 years ago and it was extremly painful, both mentally and physically. If you are still in pain i would suggest that you go back to the hospital and they will give you something to take away the pain. You also may have to get a D&C done, which is when they put you to sleep and take out all the tissue that didnt come out yet :) Things will get better, it takes a while but be strong :)
