I had a question about Monoply and its rules... Is it possible to go backwards?

For ex. a i draw a card and im one space head of a railroad. The card reads "go to the nearest railroad and pay double if owned if not you may purchase from bank." so do i go backwards or forwards?

Every move in the game is FORWARD, except if you draw the card from Chance that says, MOVE BACK 3 SPACES.  

If you end up drawing a 'Go To Jail' card, you go to jail, there is not forwards or backwards, just get your *** to jail.

it is possible, first is if the nearest railroad to you is in the back. you must move backwards, that's why it is called NEAREST. There's no problem w/ it at all. second is when you draw a card and it is said that go back three spaces, you will move backward.

You would go forwards. The only time your go backwords if if you get a Go Directly to Jail Card in which at that point, you just move your piece to the Jail. Any other time you have to make your rounds on the board going forward only.

Greetings!  There is only one instance where you deliberately move backwards and that is the "Chance" card that orders you to go back three spaces.  The rest of the game you move in a clockwise fashion.

There is a chance card that says go back 3 spaces.  That is the only time you go back.

Other versions of opolies have cards that may say something different.  For these, read the cards carefully.  Some of there versions are fun and can break up the monotony of regular monopoly.

I played Whoville-opoly on Sunday.  I will play Christmas-in-a-Box (Christmas Monopoly before it was legal to label something an opoly) today.

In that situation you would move forward.  There is only one card in there and I believe it's a Chance card that says "Move Back 3 Spaces".  At no other time in the game of Monopoly do you move backwards.

backwards no matter what.  it is possible. for instance, one card says move four spaces back.. in that case you kinda have to go back.  but on a regular turn you cant go back. unless you cheat!! :D

Actually you can play by your own.In this situation it not wrong if you go backward but ensure the backward railway is the nearest station if you comparing with the forwards
