  1. There isn't enough information to form an opinion. What is the charge for? Does the system work from the BT socket without the extra "wires?"

  2. i think we spoke to the same women.they wanted to change us a £110 call out change.and £90 a hour there after.liberty taking c*nts.

  3. The post office phone service is the bet value for money.

  4. You are classed as a “Win Back customer” and as such Openreach will reconnect your extn’s (extension) as long as they are within 1.5mtrs of the BT socket for free (most engineers will go beyond this as long as it’s less than 30min job). This however is done as a good will gesture and has no warranty attached to the extn’s.

Openreach would not remove any extn’s and replace them BT, NTL or other. Unless you requested on the original order, they would also charge for this service approx £150 per extn.

As with all SP’s (Service Providers) you line rental only covers you to the first socket in your house or flat. Everything after that belongs to you, even if the extn was originally installed by BT. (all BT installed extn’s come with a 12 month guaranty and does not include damage or lightning).

If you have been charged as a result of a fault callout your master socket & extn must meet certain criteria before they can charge. You must have an NTE5A as your first socket (these are about 3”X 3”) and have a raised BT logo top right hand corner. These have 2 screws that can be removed and the front plate taken off. This will then disconnect your extn’s and allow you to identify if the fault is in on your extn or on the line. If you have the older 2/1 socket, (about1.5” X 1.5”) then BT are not allowed to charge you as you are unable to eliminate your extn’s from the line.

Its worth checking Openreach Engineers are subject to constant charging changes and some do not keep up to speed!

  6. they really are all the same - virgin media, bt blah blah blah. had the same thing with virgin media (sort of). i invested in another tv but the cable orginally fitted was too short. the robbing devils wanted to charge me £75 for someone to come in and just fit up an adapter...

unfortunately you just don't get anywhere. i ended up cancelling the tv out of principle... but they don't care - they're not the ones who lose out. loads of people out there just pay up and shut up!

    hope you get it sorted.
