  1. haha i had the same problem, i just yanked it.

do u wanna sit through another root canal????? depends where the tooth is, if its a molar and no one can see it, then pull it. ur tooth will just become brittle and probably break unless u get a crown that is like $1000 dollars :)

  2. First of all,   have the tooth checked and x-rayed by a dentist you trust.   It is not uncommon for teeth to flare up,  become sensitive,  and then calm back down.     If a dental professional told you that you need gum surgery,   it could have been your gums that actually were causing the sensitivity and not the tooth.      If there is a new minor infection,  sometimes antibiotics can help it,   or even a re-do of the root canal.

Always pull a tooth as a last resort.   It is expensive to replace it.    A tooth that had a root canal so long ago should have a crown on it to protect it as well.

If your aim is to save the tooth,   and the gums around it are iffy,   the surgery will help stabilize it.   It is a good sign that the pain went away,  but it may return if the problem still exists.

A dentist you trust can tell you if it's a gum problem and pain,  a root canal problem and pain,   or something else.    A good dentist will only recommend removing the tooth if nothing else is possible.
